It's not about being normal it's about having respect for his wife. Usually, if he is lying about one little thing, it's probably to cover up another lie that was previously told. Find a better man, one that doesn't lie one that knows and appreciates honesty and respect, one that can be an example to your immature ex of how it should be done. Karma will take care of the rest.

They lie b ecause they are just like children--they think it will somehow keep them out of "trouble". AND they are stupid! A woman might email or tela-mail something, but she'll cover her tracks. How many times do they (men)(well, actually, little boys....) make a phone call they shouldn't, but don't take it off the phone, so all you have to do is *69 to find out who it was????? I'm sorry, guys, but I'm an old lady--almost 60--and I've had two marriages, (to two of the most DIFFERENT men in the world), and so many "relationships" I can't count, and I've watched my mother, my daughters, and so many friends go thru' all this stupid stuff, that I can't help but generalize.
My youngest daughter handles it best of all: she never even confronts her son's father with all of the things she knows. I said that would make him think that he was slick and getting over on her. And she said, "Oh no it doesn't. He knows I'm smarter than him."
You WILL survive! Just know that YOU are smarter, stronger, and probably have a better moral character, too.
I just came back on to add something to my answer...
Once, when my youngest was about 8, she left the water running in the kitchen. I came out and yelled at her about it. She said she didn't do it. Like a fool, I argued with her. "If you didn't do it, who did, a ghost??" Her answer: "I don't know."
This went on for probably an hour. I wanted her to admit it, and she stubbornly refused to admit it. By that time it wasn't about the water, but about the "principle of the thing." Years later, we laugh about this because I KNEW she did it. She KNEW she did it, and she knew that I knew she did it. So what was the point of arguing? Same thing with your guy: He knows he did it, and you say no one else had the phone so you know he did it, and now he knows that you know. Why try to get him to admit it???? If he does, he knows you'll be even angrier, and he'll feel even more stupid. Is it a "control" issue?
As long as he's faithful and loving, let him be a jerk. (He knows that you know he is one!)

Dear Brigit, not all Men do that, I mean lie about such things. It`s depend on each personality. But my suggession do not make decision in hurry.....sometimes when we wanna take that action (divorce), it will coz many effect specially to kids we had.
Just see from positive side, if the lie only for `simplest` things, such as send naked fotos just forget about it, coz Your merried is far more valuable than that. Just regard`s He made a joke to friends or a kind of kidding. As long as He still maintain his responsibility and faithfull on You.
But If He fooling around with other woman, it means He could maintain fair love between two of you, that`s become a big problem.....than You may worried and worst could be asking divorce.
My friend hope my input could be usefull for You

I asked my husband, because he to lies about stupid things like that, he said it is just easier to lie than to hear the wife complain because he did it. He said the woman probably nit pics about everything and is controlling and stuff like that.....now that is what my lying husband said....I say those kind of men are insecure about being a real man and they think they are wife whipped if they don't do stupid sex things and lie about them. they think they are more of a man if they can do things that are stupid and hurtful, thinking they may get away with it. but kinda hoping they will be found out, thus making their wife insecure. It is stupid..I don't thing those kind of men will ever change.

Sounds to me like he wanted a divorce. For some reason he wanted you to initiate the process.
Plus let be honest you girls don't want a man who tells the truth that guy: is too nice, he's not a challenge, he doesn't turn you on in bed. Now who's the smart one? Guys!

He is man. They all tell petty lies. They think that if they make up a little lie that it will make everything ok. But in all reality most of time it would be better if they tell the truth. They just aren't very smart!!

because we don't want to seem stupid for whatever we got caught doing and in return we make ourselves out to be jacka55es. i don't know sometimes we cant help it. its our natural response and once we've realized what we said we either tell the truth or try to lie some more to get out of it. its really stupid but i find myself doing it all the time. did you leave the milk out? no it must have been "anyone but me" i haven't touched the milk.. while I'm eating a bowl of cereal.

Cause some are idiots, and If you don't put your foot down, and have a little talk with the idiot friend, you might as well accept it.
Don't you know you are who you hang with? Why is your hubby hanging out with an idiot? makes sense now.
I say give him a hard time, see how it feels, pay him with his own medicine.

In my opinion, most men are just plain retarded. They just don't get it. They do lie about the simplest thing and have an excuse for everything. What's up with that? Just remember...you are not alone out there. Good luck...Hang in there.
