The best treatment for sunburn, in my experience, is a bit of a process-but if you do it right, your body will thank you.
Firstly, you need to drink a lot of water, not just right now, but for about the next week so that your body has a good supply to cool itself and build new skin under the damaged, burned skin.
Secondly, you need to take two Tylenol or Ibuprofen every few hours (not to exceed the maximum dosage on the label) for the pain and swelling of the actual sunburn and the ensuing rise of body temperature as a result of the overheated part or parts of the body.
Thirdly, you need to purchase, if you haven't already got it, a large bottle of aloe vera gel. Slather this stuff on generously, covering even the areas that don't seem all that bad. Repeat this action when the skin feels dry/warm again and the aloe has been absorbed. Make every effort to keep the burned skin damp, if not wet with aloe constantly. Skin is not good at maintaining a good level of moisture, especially when it is damaged by a burn, so its up to you to make sure it has the moisture it needs to heal quickly.
Fourth, your body needs to recover-so you need to take it easy inside-where it is cool and you are away from the uv rays that could make things worse. Don't do any major exercise for a few days, your body needs this time to rest and repair itself. Also, try to get a lot of sleep the first few days, this will accelerate healing time.
Lastly, be aware of what your body is telling you. It is pretty common, especially with bad burns that involve large areas of the body, to experience queasiness, trouble sleeping, fatigue, loss of appetite, a raised temperature and chills. Symptoms such as these will usually pass within a day or two, but should they become severe, you should go to the nearest ER or Urgent Care for treatment. You should also watch for blisters, should they appear, seek medical attention and whatever you do, do not try to pop them-open blisters are extremely painful and become infected easily.
Best of luck to you-and next time-use a higher SPF, especially on the areas that were burned the worst!

Take the hottest shower you can stand, it helps to release some heat. I know it hurts, I'm practically an albino, I get bad sunburns too. After that, put aloe vera on it. Don't use any soap or lotions, it clogs the pores and traps the heat. Use aloe constantly, you really can't over do it and it's good for your skin anyways.

Rub in aloe or some sort of moisturizing lotion. If you can, soak in the bath tub with luke warm watter, then rub the aloe/lotion in afterward. There's really not much else you CAN do, but try to stay out of the sun for the next day or two. Trust me, I live in Phoenix, AZ, which is called the Valley of the Sun... I know sun burns.

There are those after sun lotion you can get at the drug store or department store. It help sooths the skin, but I don't find that it helps bring down the red. It's important to avoid getting burn in the first place by wearing enough sunscreen.

I know you will think this sounds nuts but try vinegar on it! I use to burn all the time and my mom would put it on me, you smell for a bit but I would have such a nice tan afterwards and no peeling! It will stink at first!

I don't know if you can get it where you are but BAND-AID® Anti-Itch Gel has camphor in it which cools down sunburn and numbs it slightly.

well i just wait it out!

if u use some lotion, mosturizer, aleo vera, and after ward ur skin may peel i suggest that u rub on some salt on ur sunburnt areas, just enough so that it scraps the peels right off!
