It seems like all the sistas on reality tv are all sterotypical, neck rolling hussies. Examples: Tiffany a.k.a New York from Flavor of Love, Coral form the Real World, Peaches from College Hill 2, Omarosa from the Apprentice, Eva Pigford, Robyn, Brandie, and Camelle from Top Model.

I agree with what most people say here. It's true, the media WANTS stereotypical black women, so it makes sure that that is all it shows on it's various shows. Any woman who does not fit the stereotype will not get cast.

However, there is the flip side of the coin. I dated a black guy once. Not only black, but born and raised in Nigeria till he came to the States for University, so he was definitely African in every sense of the word. He played basketball, he listened to old school hip hop, he was big, muscular and had a deep bass voice. Up till now, stereotype right?

Wrong.

He graduated from Columbia Law School and became a succsesful attorney. And black people AND white people called him an OREO!!!! Why? Because he was in a white job?

It's not only the media that rejects non-stereotypes. So does society.

Hollywood was founded and for the most part is still controlled by a very tight knit group of Jewish immigrants who escaped the holocaust in Europe. For some odd reason they feel that it is in their interest that American society be divided up by racial stereotypes and easy to categorize. The screen writers typicaly portay every race as having this or that particular flaw or this or that particular virtue. They predictably portaray Jews as having only minor charactar deficits (since they are portraying themselves as being blameless), caucasions are typically typecasted as being untilligent, stiff, and "uncool" when contrasted with blacks on a "black show". Shows involving professionals- lawyers, scientists, doctors- are usually disproportionatly represented by fellow Jews.

Much of this is changing, due to public awareness, the internet, and threats to the Hollywood monopoly from cable and satellite alternatives. Hollywood itself is beginning reforms of its own and many of the old screenwriters are checking themselves as they are gradually phased out due to attrition and lack of work.

Some have alleged that is a grand conspiracy by International Zionism that we have a racist media, but it is more likely just the ignorant thought processes of the industry itself which until rather recently has been shielded from outside critics.

Hollywood will always pass off entertainment as art, amusement as entertainment, and annoyance as amusement no matter who is in charge. Hollywood is a mass production industry where quantity often takes precedense over quality.

The same way that other races, religions and sexualities are depicted on reality. Reality TV is 'entertainment' therefore the producers and editors of the show will take 'entertaining' characteristics from people and exaggerate them to give the audience something to laugh at or be shocked by, without really trying to educate or enlighten us . That's what they see as ratings winners and more sponsorship and more money.

In real life a black woman is a beautiful thing, but the media wants you to look and be a certain way. Black women need get a grip on black men and do something about the "Rap" it's not music, It's just people talkin to a fake beat. "R & B" is a different story, although I don't listen to much at all it is still tasteful music.

The whole black women want to be ****** in public thing is intolerable. I mean, Omarosa dug her own grave. She is a publicity seeker. Janice Dickinson is silicone walking up and down the Surreal Life set in stilettos. Supermodels. I feel sorry for them. As for Black female stereotypes, watch Tyra's show sometime. She will break it down for you. love, Michelle.

People of ALL races are stereotyped and the ones who don't fit the stereotypes don't make it on camera. Hollywood helps to perpetrate these stereotypes and screen writers are turned away when their characters don't fit that mold. It would be practically impossible to keep hatred, ignorance and animosity going if the media was fair.

Because that's what America has become accustomed to. It's an amusing label that has been placed on black women and it sells. Stereotypes will be around for a long time. It's just up to you and I not to live them.

That's a big word...

Seriously though, black women need to step out from the shadow of male rappers. You're just trophies to them.

"reality tv" is based on what Hollywood thinks is reality, and if we keep watching these shows and buying the products that are advertised on these shows, Hollywood and the advertisers for these shows will continue to think that is what people like and want to see.
