So what do expect from a good vacation? Are you more the outdoor/nature type of traveller, you like a city with good nightlife or are you more into visiting places of cultural interest? You just say you want to go off the beaten track, that could include all of the above mentioned.
Here's an idea: try the Baltic. Beautiful coasts for example at the Curian spit in Lithuania, secluded lakes and woods in Mazuria/Poland, old Hanseatic cities like Klaipeda/Lithuania, Tallinn/Estonia or Riga/Latvia with an ever growing nightlife. Or a city full of culture in St.Petersburg/Russia.
And lots of friendly people!
It's still comparably cheap there and it's definitely off the beaten track with all the pro and cons.

I though Budapest was the best. I have heard lots of good things about Romania. The small towns in Germany are really cool, I would recommend Lindau and Meersburg on the Bodensee. Anywhere can be off the beaten track if you get out of the tourist areas and meet the locals.

I'd stay around the Mediterranean....go see Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. If you want to get out of Europe, add in Morocco. It's one of the coolest places I've ever been.

It depends.
The UK and Ireland are great and it so happens that they speak English.
France is nice and so is Italy(hot women but few people who speak English)
Germany is nice especially the Dusseldorf -koln area.
If you like beaches and the sea, go to Cyprus. Also tons of British chicks.
And Finally my brother was Prague last month and really liked it.
Try to go in October when they have low season pricing

Haha, I think you should go to albania. It's a country that is visited by a few people, and for many cultural places you could be one of the first visitors. It's really a great experience.

It depends on what kind of tourism you want to make. Why don't you find out about the railway pass and travel around Europe?

Everywhere except France. I went there and it was not good at all. Definitely go to Wales, it's a nice country and I can't wait to go back, and London was great.
