when you talk about best linebackes you have to analyze the best defenses of all time
the steelers iron curtain was one of the best defenses in the history of the nfl, they lasted for as long as 7 years as the best. and there was lambert, but i will say no, because they had probably one of the most efficient d line, with joe green and all
then you go to the chicago bears with mike singletary, but compared to dick butkus , singletary is short
Dick butkus for example played in the chicago bears with nothing, and he was feard by everyone, played with broken arms and blood, and hit really hard so he might be.
Ray lewis and the baltimore ravens, in 2000 season were the best defense ever to play a single season in the nfl, and they did had a great team of hall of famers, but who stood up as defensive player of the year and mvp in the superbowl, and unlike lambert he worked with a not soo good defense all his carrer except on the 2000 season where they had basically the best of the best.
People say lawrence taylor, but i really dont think so, he was great, probably one of the greatest ever, but he wasnt a mlb, dont get me wrong he had like 10-12 sacks seasons, but all he did was blitz, he revolutionized the position, but he is not a ray lewis or a dick butkus, but now that i look at the stats, strenght, speed, and inteligence to read plays and all, i will have to go with ray lewis. the position has been evoplving year after yaer, and yes on his times dick butkus was amazing, but ray lewis was like him only faster, stronger, smarter , and feard as much as butkus

ray lewis

LT changed the way the game was played. Plus, he could take over a game from the olb position. This is something only a handful of defensive players in history could do.

THE LT -Lawrence Taylor.
(LaDainian IS NOT LT, I am sorry, dude, you're a newbie, you shouldn't be stealing somebody else's nickname!)

but I ADORE Mike Singletary as well, he was so intense, I hope he can bring that to his coaching! He reminds me of Butkus...
I think both of them had rumors flying about them, that they bit people and stuff, because they were already so scary...

Junior Seau is pretty dangerous still, I wish he'd played for teams I really liked!

I can't decide... they're all great for different reasons...

I think the best ever is "LT" Lawrence Taylor... cocaine and all... HA HA HA

Lawrence Taylor was best all around.
Zach Thomas is most underrated.
Ray Lewis is the most intimidating.

Can't forget the Butkis's and such though.

No doubt LT, It's funny, on the field he was all nuts and intense, I met him once and he was very quiet and shy.
