I think that she is too young to be on that website. With the way thing are these days and with the crazy people that are out there you need to be careful. Even though the computer & the internet are very useful tools. What's going to stop a petofile from trying to lure her from the safety of your home. And in my opinion that website just aids to the petofile's cause. I don't think you are over reacting at all. I'm not a parent but it's your job to protect her from harm. I would rather restrict her and her be mad at me then to have her be another news story on the 5 o'clock news. Good luck and God Bless.

Definitely not. In fact, MySpace has rules that the person must be 14 years old or older. I've seen several programs on tv that say MySpace is a prime place for sexual predators. It also has a lot of people with sexual pics even though you're not supposed to.

No it isn't... I honestly wouldn't recommend it for anyone under 18. Too many trashy people took over and ruined it.
Also, my cousin (she's 14) was on it at my house one day, and they now have an IM service, some guy (he was 25) was asking her things he had no business asking someone he knew was 14.
Also, some places of business won't hire you if you have a myspace account, just warning everyone about that.

Well in my opinion, if she's smart enough to not give out PERSONAL INFO to complete strangers then i guess she would be alright. Ask if her profile is set on "private." That way no one she doesn't know or pedophiles will be able to stalk her or anything...tell her not to give out where she lives, phone number, account info, etc to anybody she doesn't know....but i have to say...13 years old is pretty young. I've seen a lot of things 13 years olds SHOULD NOT SEE.

I had a myspace when I was 13. As long as she sets it to where only people who are in her friends (she has to approve of them) can see her site it's pretty safe. Just make sure she doesn't add people who she doesn't know.

Yes, she is too young.
And .. she is too young to be surfing without supervision, or anything else online wihtout supervision.
Which i think you already know. Cuz you sound like a concerned Mom who knows what is up.
Keep up the good work.

I agree with you. I am 26 and have a page there. I don't think it's safe for a thirteen year old.

No, it's perfectly safe, just know her passwords and check it often! Don't let her give out her address or phone number. Check her friends to see if they're really her friends (IE, people she goes to school/church with) not just random people around the world.
