what part of Asia? many Asians do have similar basic features: dark hair, olive skin, narrowed eyes, etc. but just as no two white people look exactly the same (excluding identical twins) no two Asians (or Hispanics, or black people, etc.) look the same.

also geographic differences in family origin can affect the basic features of a person. as has been said, if you look closely you can tell a Filipino person from another nationality of Asian because people from that region simply have different distinguishing features. generally the farther apart or more isolated from each other, the greater the differences, look at Chinese people and Indian people they couldn't be more different but they both have their racial ties to somewhere in Asia. Asia is a very large place after all.

the answer is no but some people cant look past basic features and see the differences.

Of course not. I love Asian women and I certainly have no trouble telling them apart. I have been surprised, however, by the number
of Asians who have told me, themselves, that they feel they do look alike! (It may apply more to the men but that's simply because I am paying more attention to the ladies.)
.My theory is this. Most Europeans, while still Caucasian, are ethnically mixed. This creates a greater variance within the race whereas most Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, etc. are a more homogeneous people within their own cultures. They do bear a closer resemblance to each other than we do but the same would apply to pure Irish, Polish, English, etc.
Most Americans & Canadians are ethnically mixed within their race, usually two or more ethnicities per individual. (Four, in my own case!) Perhaps, if a person is not accustomed to being around a diverse population, it may appear that the "others" do
resemble one another.

Yes and no. I am a Filipino and I've traveled to Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. So far, I could easily mistake them for a fellow Filipino who is from the southern Philippines. Even some of the words in their language are similar in spelling, use and pronounciation. Brown skinned Asians like me are from the Malay ancestry and with centuries of inter marriage with anglo colonizers and the chinese and japanese we see fairer skinned asians with light brown hair, light brown eyes and taller noses.Another example that Asians differ in looks, take the Citizens of Taiwan, they are actually Chinese who escaped from Mainland China's communist regime but are considered Asians. Because they fall within the territorial jurisdiction of Southeast Asia. Even the Australians and the Kiwis of New Zealand.

To someone that cannot tell the difference between a mushroom and a watermelon I guess people from the Asian region would look the same.

No way....Asians from every country have distinct features. I can even tell the difference between a Chinese, Japanese or a Philippino. Creator has created each one as a master piece. Leave alone asians...one can even distinguish between twins. It's only in the movies you get to see similarity in features. Each human being is 100% different from the other.

It's like with any ethnic group, people have similarities which make them look similar to each other. I have noticed when I visit another state that white people look similar as well and it's easy to get confused. I think once you get to know a person as a person though that the issue of ethnicity goes away and you begin to see them as Mary, Tom, Joe, Margaret, or whatever instead "that Asian person".

Yes, all Asians look the same way, namely with their eyes. What do you look with?

you aren't taking the time to LOOK at the people.
Once you look at the people for who they are , you WILL notice a difference.
You aren't the only one who considers this though , I've been in Japan for a long time and there are also people over here that consider all non-Asians look the same.
