Ken was always to busy fixing Barbie's townhouse and Jeep to look for a job. Ken could of opened up a business of his own if it wasn't for that dumb blond Barbie crashing her vehicle every other day.

I recently saw an article on Yahoo which claims that "housewife" is not just a job but several jobs in one, such as cleaner, chef, manager, teacher, psychologist etc. (I think they even threw CEO in there, for good measure) Ken must be a "househusband", so he does all those jobs and then some (according to previous answers - handyman, mechanic and gigolo). Or may be he's just a clean slate so that Barbie could make anything out of him that she wants... in either case he's every woman's dream :)

Barbie was created to impower women and show them they could do anything. I guess another way to do this is to downplay men and make the woman superior
