i thought it was ben e king but then when i did a search all kinds of names came up, and is it the same singer that sings stand by me? i'm trying to put a cd together for my parents please help

Bill Withers wrote and originally recorded "Lean On Me"...and no, he is not the same person who did "Stand By Me". That was Ben E King.
