The closest to my five, would obviously get the points. If nobody is particulary close to my own choices, I'll put it up for voting. Thanks!

OK, time to put this up for a vote.
My personal five most overrated are:
1) THE GRATEFUL DEAD: Never, ever, understood what the fuss was about. Very put-off by the whole "Deadhead" thing!
2) U-2: Musically, not bad. Very put off by Bono, however. Really can't fathom their International appeal. Average at best.
3) PINK FLOYD: Actually I like a fair amount of their material but there just isn't enough uptempo stuff. "Downer" music, as I see it. Can't understand their mass appeal at all.
4) THE DAVE MATTHEWS BAND: Good first album, everything downhill after that. Where's the guitar playing? A novelty act, in my book, that has worn off. I did see them once, though. Much better live and LOUD!
5) RASCALL FLATTS: I LOVE Country music but don't quite get the mass appeal of these guys. Kind of a boy band vibe with more of a Pop/R&B flavor. Don't get it.
BONUS: Can't understand the appeal of Michael Jackson or any Rap/Hip-Hop! (Also, very disappointed to see people listing The Stones!)

Any rapper, or any of the recent sickeningly generic alternative rockers who fill the airwaves (pick any five that you want).

And to give some perspective, here are my top 10 favorite bands:

1. The Beatles
2. The Rolling Stones
3. The Who
4. Bob Dylan
5. Pink Floyd
6. Yes
7. The Doors
8. Creedence Clearwater Revival
9. The Stooges
10. Radiohead

One The Doors. Ever see Jim Morrison on stage? He was filthy. No, not the lyrics, his clothes. They keep showing the same clip of him on TV every celebrate the doors show, and you could stand that shirt up in a corner by itself. Yuck. Never could see what the attraction was. Oh yeah, he was a rebel and he died.. And high as a kite. Didn't think the music or lyrics were that great, either.
Two. The Grateful Dead .Can't remember one good song from them.
Three. Kiss. All show band. No substance. How did they get on the Olympics program? I admit to thinking the make-up was cute.
Four. The Stones. My friend thinks Mick is the sexiest man alive. OK, but not me. At least there is substance to their songs, and some have made my list of favorites. Can't turn on a radio or TV without some story about them. I guess when you are filthy rich, you can afford good advertising.
Five.Fleetwood Mac. I own Rumors, but I wonder why, except everybody else was buying it. I'll be skipping the reunion. Stevie Nicks will not go down in history as the greatest singer.

I'm not saying any of these bands are bad in any way or that I even dislike them; I just don't see why there's so much hype about them.

The Beatles
Rolling Stones
Aerosmith
Guns N' Roses
Nirvana

And to me, The Doors were far from being overrated. That's just my opinion, though. Jim Morrison was a god. They're one of the very few classic rock bands I truly adore. Come on, have you heard the beautiful "Indian Summer"? One of their best songs, EVER.
