I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive closthes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

keep in mind the whole "braided hair" thing was considered immodest in those times...you can use your imaginations...it's okay i promise.

Yeah, because you just know that women with braided hair are immodest. Pollyanna, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, Anne of Green Gables, and any little girl with pigtails - they are clearly all loose little tarts. What a great message to send to children!

I found that translation, too, but before you agree with it totally read the next two verses.
1 Timothy 2:11,12
"A woman must receive instruction silently and under complete control. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man."
Do you say, "Amen!!!" to that, too!
