Is it legal in CA to pay a part time worker a lower wage than full-time for the same job?

Sure it's done all the time. Part-time employees don't get the same benefits as Full-time employees.

absolutely. FT employees are eligible for benefits, benefits cost money, which comes out of the FT employee's paycheck. So technically, after taxes and the benefits are taken out of the paycheck, it actually turns out to be the same amount in most cases. If a FT employee choosed not to sign up for benefits, sure, they'll will have bigger paychecks, but they'll end up paying an arm and a leg to get their teeth fixed, get a check-up or a stay at the ER in the hospital, etc. It has its draw backs, but thats the real world.

As long as the employer meets the minimum CA state wage requirements.
