I can't believe that he thinks no one remembers them--2 Hall of Famers and one that would have been had he lived long enough--Munson was the second man to serve as Captain of the Yankees!

Munson is one of my favorite all time players. He played with grit. Grew a beard once just to anger Stiennobrainer. He was the Captain of the Yankees and one of the toughest men to play baseball. Best defensive catcher of his time by far. Hit almost as well as Bench also. Not as much power but far better avg. Should be in hall of fame plane crash or not.

Catfish until struck down by diabetes was one of the best pitchers of his time. He also brought alot of charactor to the game.

Billly Martin. Who could forget him LOL. First as a scrappy 2nd basemen for the Yankees. Then as a scrappy manager. I think Billy Martin MUST hold the MLB for fights in and out of uniform. Thats when he wasn't argueing with his boss and getting fired and re-hired. It got so bad that Martin appeared in TV comercials joking about being fired and re-hired. I think Stienbrenner appeared in one of them too.

They were all part of the Bronx Zoo. One of the more imfamous semi-dynasties. Only 2 WS titles doesn't really qualify as a dynasty but really close. Tales of these three will ring down to our grandchildren I think.

The question is, in 30 years, who will remember InSuLtEd1?

Catfish rocks. I guess I don't remember him pitching a perfect game with the A's in 1968 and immediately getting a $5000 raise from A's owner Charlie Finley the next day. Not to mention Catfish's five World Series rings in the 70's: 1972, 1973, 1974 with the A's and 1977 and 1978 with the Yanks.

Of course I remember Yankees catcher Thurman Munson and his tragic death in a private jet. Or the fiery Billy Martin--the oft-hired and oft-fired manager of the Yanks in the 1970s, then the inventor of Billy Ball in 1980 and 1981 with the A's. Who can forget his fiery tirades against umps and his famous "Hide-Home Plate-with-Dirt Dance"?

InsulteD1--or is it inSulTeD1, or is it iNsuLTeD1?...who's gonna remember that?

Pug Fisk said that Thurman Munson was a better catcher than he was. NOW that says something about Thurman. Billy Martin played with Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford and more hall of famers and almost anyone else. He also managed more hall of famers than most modern day managers have! Cat Fish was a great pitcher. Enough said.

I remember them all. Munson was possibly the best catcher to ever play the game. He is up there with Johnny Bench as far as I am concerned. Jim "Catfish" Hunter was a great pitcher, and Billy Martin was a decent player, and a very good manager. I remember them all.

how can't you remember these players, a hall of fame pitcher like catfish, who had great success with both Oakland and the Yankees.

billy martin has to be one of the most controversial mangers ever.

and Thurman munson would be a hall of famer had he not died in a plane crash.

You're kidding, right? Of course I remember Billy Martin, I'm a Bay Area native and he was a hoot. Thurman Munson, I remember him too. Catfish... *sigh*... I had such a crush on him back when... ahhhh, youth!

Mom would take me out of school on days of double-headers and we'd head off to the ball park. We had our priorities clear in our household.

Well, to begin with, InSuLtEd_1 is an idiot. Of course people remember them. Now he wants us to name dead soldiers and only think about current players?

I was at Munson's last game at Yankee stadium. I am not a Yankee fan, but I did like him.

movie mike is living in a dream called Field of Dreams....you guys are pathetic. I would shed a tear for you all but am holding it for the day you say Hank Aaron was the best ever. You guys need to let go of the past and get a grip on the nowadays. Who gives a frig about past time pros......if you care that much about baseball then name all the soldiers who died in wars during that baseball era..yeah, didnt think you could. Real life is not about who is what. The people you are talking about are no better than the people that died in order for them to continue playing baseball. Hats off to you.

Billy Martin managed The Tigers to the playoffs in 1972.

Even though I was not alive, my dad remebers him and told me some stories.
