I have heard a lot of bad thing about SOME (not all) modelling agencies and how they make you pay for photos and photo sessions before they take you on then never give you any work. My advise to you is if you have a friend who is reasonable with a camera (do not have to be a professional) Just take 100 photos of yourself in different poses, clothing and backgrounds then pick out 10-20 nice photos. You can then use this as a portfolio, and even better instead of printing them which cost you money every time, host them on a website and get some business cards print with the website address on and just hand these out instead. This is a far cheaper way of doing it and with no RISK.

However if you would like a personal portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free. I can design you a fully personalised flash website with as much or little information and then host it for you. This site can contain a gallery of your photos, personal information, list of work, contact details, etc or if you prefer just a couple of photos and nothing else. It can be password protected and all images will be protected as is humanly possible, or the photos can be available to download.

Examples of work can be provided on request. Just message me here if you want, I am a professional website designer but have lots of free time (and enough money) so I am currently doing free sites for small bands, small artist etc, basically anyone who could not afford them otherwise. I have my own hosting server so can offer hosting servers or you can host the site yourselves. No images sent to me will be used for anything other than your site and I will not give anyone your detail or link to the site. You will have complete control and the site can be removed or changed at any time. This is not a scam and I will design a site for FREE, I do not need the money, and enjoy working. If you do want it message me you can tell me what you want and how you want it done and I will help.

Well, the good thing is that you don't have to have the greatest face in the world. Basically, you just have to be really skinny. If you can eat third-world rations everyday you will be successful. Then, after you are thin, find a good photographer to take the necessary shots. A good photographer will detail this for you. Try to find a women because they are less likely to have hidden sexual agendas. Then circulate pics and network. If you are beautiful your looks will do most of the work; but, if after a while, say, six months, no one gets back to you-you probably are not meant to be a model. You should focus on what kind of model you want to be as well.

You can be any size or shape or whatever for regular modeling. If you want to do something more advanced, you have to be 5'6 (maybe 5'9). Those people you see on ads in magazines are models. Also, your best bet into getting into modeling is to get into classes, such as those in Barbizon. I myself am enrolled in the program. In Barbizon, they teach you a lot of stuff about modeling and acting too. From there, they will try to get you in an agency if you sign up for their placement program. You have to be between 8 and 18 (I think). You need to get a portfolio with head shots, full length shots, etc., and take it to an agency. Hope this helps!!! ^.^

It depends on your age, height, weight , etc.... You might get started with an agency that has models for catalogs or ads. Don't go anywhere that makes you pay for a photo or anything else.

Also, a lot of women who are considered beautiful could never be models.

Hard life being a model. Consider twice before making the choice of entering modelling. If you are absolutely sure, try contacting your local agency?

You need to take classes. Look into modeling schools in your area. Try to befriend a model ... be an apprentice ...work for free.
Most likely you are young ... most professionals like to help young people get started.

first make sure that u hve great skin, then get 10 to 12 hrs of sleep or as much as possible, then make a portfolio of pictures, and goals, fax this portfolio to as many modeling agencies as you can, or take it in person...the biggest key is to not give up because it takes time, a lot of agencies, and many many turn downs, but eventually if u keep trying the right one will want you...good luck!

You should watch America's Next Top Model, they give great tips. You have to be professional, LIKEABLE (very important), taller than 5'8'' I'd imagine. You have to have a nice face, it doesn't have to be quite like everyone else's but no bad skin. Your face can be unique, real agents like that. You should have confidence, and not cocky. That's pretty much the basics... Good Luck!!
