After showing home page any further link is not opening. When I click the link a box pops up & stands still. I am using O/S windows 98 & IE 6. I've reinstalled the IE but no avail.

I am not sure if I understand the question, but I have a feeling that you are discussing some site that you created and your links dont work there
If that is the case, it will be important to know how these links have been created
Basically there is a notion of absolute links and relative links
Assume that your home page is called index.html and you kept it at the following location
d:\mywebsite\index.html

Now there is a link on this page for details.html which is kept at
d:\mywebsite\details.html

So there are two ways you can create this link
1- You can embed the following code
details
This is a case of absolute linking. Basically you expect the page to be at d drive forever

2- You can embed the following code
details
This is a case of relative linking. You expect the details.html page to be at the same place as index.html. It doesnt matter whether thats in C drive or D drive.

Confusion wrt links like this often lead to broken links.

I am not a web developer, but personally, I prefer the 2nd style. That way if you move your website to a different computer or a different drive, your site is always up and running

If however you are worried about some external site, you may want to check whether your netconnection is up. For that you will need to check stuff like your gateway, ip address etc are configured right!

Hope this helps!

I cant believe this I just had the same problem--If I'm understanding it right - you try to click on something and it doesnt do anything-like you didint click? I didn't know what to do, so if just did a system reboot. Are you getting any error messages. I was also getting funky error messages. do these things:

1 go to the Microsoft update site and scroll through to see if there are any updates for this problem or

2 do a "system reboot" with the disc (floppy or cd-rom) that came with your PC. This is probably the best bet, but you have to make sure to save anything you put on your PC onto a disk so you an re-install it after the reboot or

3 if you are getting funky error messages, write down the files(usually a .dll file) that the error message mentions and do an extraction. Only do this if the error message contains files that end in the .dll--these are your internet files/java files/scripting files.; If you don't know how to extract it is easy, just type "extracting files" in the address bar and you' ll get all kind of links or email me and I'll tell you.

I was using Windows 98 and it didn't display because this Windows is too old. Then I formatted my computer and put Windows ME and it didn't work it wants a fast connection, and a new and modern computer.

Try another browser. e.g. Firefox, Netscape.

There may be codes that are not IE friendly on the site.
