Find one task that thoroughly enjoy and stick with that. For instance, it's summer, and people need lawn care. More specifically, elderly people need lawn services and many are unable to perform these services themselves. Therefore, develop a plan to perform lawn care services to a target population such as the elderly, two person working families, and also single parent families, too busy to cut their lawns.
Also, perhaps you could develop flyers to distribute around your neighborhood. Your flyer could read:
Neil's Lawn Service
Grass-$ Negotiable (Leave this open to discuss price. Some lawns are bigger than others).
Trim Hedges-$5-10
Planting flowers-$10-15
Raking leaves-$ Negotiable
Snow shoveling-$Negotiable
Have your phone number on the flyer, along with address, cell, and email if you have one.
I am sure you can think of some more to add. By adding raking leaves and snow shoveling, you can certainly expect to have some income throughout the year. Now, when you go door to door, inform your potential customer of your services. Really market yourself here. Also, if they agree to allow you to cut their grass, inform them that you can develop a rotating agreement, where you schedule yourself ahead of time with them to come at a certain time each week. For instance, if someone hires you, inform them, "would you like for me to cut your grass every Wednesday at 10a.m.?" Get my point? Now, you will have money. You can ask your parents to fund your gasoline for the first two weeks, until you have earned enough money to purchase your own. Also, on your flyer, you can state that due to the rising gas prices, that there is a $1 service fee for gas. Don't feel guilty about this, many gardeners are charging a fee much higher than this! Good luck to you. Be entrepreneurial, be assertive, and make that money! ;)

Ask around where you live! My brother did some odd jobs for a local gas station and car wash for cash. Mowing lawns and babysitting are some other choices (Just be careful if you call it a business seriously). Sometimes some of the churches or other non profit organizations will hire youths to do small jobs. You might be surprised at the opportunities available to young adults who have the desire to work. It can't hurt to ask around.

Ask if you can set up a concession stand at the local Little League / soccer / Pop Warner field. Sell drinks, baked goods and packaged candy.

Mowing lawns, babysitting, cleaning yards, basements, yard sales, bottle returns (ask all your family and friends), etc. Whatever you do, make sure you are reliable!!! You need to be honest and not greedy!! Do a good, thorough job or you may not get paid and you wasted your time.....give them what they are paying for!

Do what I used to do back in the day; mow some lawns. It's great exercise, you can work on your tan, and you could make some pretty good cash.

Babysit, mow lawns, lemonade stands, volunteering, anything that you can do legally, with your parents permission and you could possibly make money with it.
