diving is not playin hun, sorry, not even in college or high school! how will he ever get respect from non-portugal fans and players around the world, coaches...if what he's known for is: for diving?
You don't want to be known for that, but for your dedication and respect for the game of futbol. Diving is not playing original classy futbol. I know everyone does it, but he takes it to another level...to the point that it makes him look arrogant and kinda of like a cheat.
When you were watching the french game today..do you recall when Zidane was clearly fouled by the portugese, and the ref didn't call it? What did the announcer say? How could that referee not make that call...Zidane never dives, he's whole career he's not known for diving...he would never just pretend he got scissored!"
That's what I mean, respect, discipline, to the point where the broadcaster can even stick up for you, because they know you will never do anything like that, you haven't done it in you 20+ years in futbol, why now..possibly the last game of your career.
I love Zidane, Ronaldo should really look at what he's accomplished, and hope someday he could be half the player Zidane is. Respect for the game..that's why it matters.

Can this be the same "callmemisscutie" who accused T Henry of being a drama queen??? T Henry obviously has NO wicked footy skill right? (sarcasm)
You must have an impersonator out there somewhere dear, because the person who asked that particular question couldn't possibly defend c ronaldo... unless it's because she thinks "he's fit"...
PS: You are so right - diving is SUCH A BAD THING. It makes a mockery of fair play, and makes all football players look like a bunch of wussies.

I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to comment on this one..."if
he had wicked skills he wouldn't need to dive, he does a stepover then can't get the ball so pretends to have been fouled...he is a cheat." Are you talking about C. Ronaldo or Henry Thierry? Go back and look at the video. As for Ronaldo, he's young - there's still a lot of his technique that he's yet to master. Guess giving the impression that you've been brutally fouled is just one of them.

How can any person who isn't on crack not see that Portugal spends most of their energy IN EVERY IMPORTANT GAME trying to trick or argue with the ref? That game against Holland was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Are the Dutch reknown for this kind of behavior? Isn't it funny how referee contraversy always follows Portugal? To me, they're the worst example of all that is disgraceful is football. C. Ronaldo is a young player who's learning quickly how to play Portuguese style football. He hasn't learned how to be trickier like Figo yet, to actually command resepct out of the football world despite the fact that he's a useless player. Just wait, he'll time his dives better in the future.

Very Simple, This is FOOTBALL... not swimming.
He dives without any contact of the defending player. If ref wasn't in position to see whether there was contact or not. And most of the time ref gives advt to suffered players, ultimately C.Ronaldo will be given a free kick. This is nothing but cheating !!!

If C Ronaldo was a great player he would have no need to dive.. It is as simple as that. Why does it matter if he does dive? Because its called football not diving. Too many matches are decided on someone taking a dive and its pathetic, you no longer have to posses great skills, you also need to know how to dive convincingly..

Diving basically shows Ronaldo thinks he has cheat in order to progress.
His football skills are questionable. Sure he can do a cool trick here and there, but he has a ton of TURNOVERS because of them. And he didn't score very well...
No worries, though. He screwed his team over, and mostly likely lost his contract with Manchester United. Nice going! But hey - the girls think he's cute, LOL!!!!
(I dislike him because he cheats and has no remorse. Sure, some other players do it as well, but they too are disliked. It basically ruins part of the "fun" aspect of the game.)

I believe that you wouldn't say this if he looked like Schweinsteiger. Ronaldo, great skills or not, is a cheat.
Ahem, sorry if I insulted Schweinsteiger's looks - he's a good player and ALL, BUT SOMEHOW imo isn't the greatest looking. Cool though !

Well it's definetly not a good thing, but mostly every footballer dives...Ronaldo's not the only one--that is IF he's a diver.

Sometimes he dives and sometimes he just falls because his feet are moving so quickly and so he loses his balance more easily and falls over. It gets frustrating though, when he gets a good chance to make a play and he just flops, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
And cokeologist - hey! what's wrong with schweinsteiger?? i happen to think he's quite cute :).
