It stands for Trademark. If you look at most logo's that you see, you'll see the little TM next to it. Just on my computer I have a TM by my Microsoft XP logo and my GeForce logo. It's all around you!

TM = trade mark. since it's next to the Google logo , you can't name something "google" and make a profit off of it...or else you meet google's lawyers.
