The state is losing 1.3 MILLION dollars A DAY in casino revenues (casinos have to be closed because state gaming officers must be present at all times, and since the state office is closed, their are no officers working). Corzine hasn't even seen a budget yet as far as I've heard, but he's putting pressure on as best he can, he's even sleeping in the state capitol building waiting on a budget proposal. I say it's gonna be about 2-3 days before the democrats finally give in to a 1% sales tax increase and the budget gets signed. Unfortunately, this little stunt will probably cost the state about 5 million dollars.

I understand NJ received some historically massive flooding, paramount to what New Orleans got post-Katrina. Many area residential homes and historic businesses in NJ experienced severe flood damage. My estimation: it'll take 3 years for all affected structures to be restored....along with a near BILLION dollar price tag.
NJ flood victims now need to be on the watch for looters and contract re-build con artists; both tend to flock like roaches to such disaster affected flood areas.

Thus far, there isn't a set date to end the shut-down. Most likely, it will end when the lawmakers decide on a new budget.
