I have 2 tattoos, very tastefully done, & my tounge is pierced....

My Tatts are located in areas that I can hide UNLESS I want them to be seen...I have one on my upper left breast & one on the calf of my right leg...one is a rose with my kids names & the other is a fairy.....

Anyway....today...I wore a Tank top & shorts & while I was in the grocery store...this woman came up to me & said that is a total disgrace for a woman to have ink like that....

Does anyone else feel this way?....I am a woman in my early 30's...have 2 kids....& this woman was probably close to my age as well.....

My tattoos aren't a disgrace, they are art.And for the record, I'm on the wrong side of 25,and highly educated, and grew up in an upper middle class home. The common stereotype is that those with tattoos are 'lower class'.Yet I get nothing but compliments when I take off my shirt. So they can view the tattoos I have on my back, of course!!! I have a rather sizable piece on my upper back.

By any chance was her name "Truth"?? or "Good Advice,"??? This person tends to have a hell of a lot to say about the debauchery and crime-filled lives that tattooed people or people involved in the industry lead!! DO NOT LISTEN TO IT!!! You like them, they're on YOUR body....why would you gove a flying figs-nut what some old bunny boiler with a hunch thinks?!! I will add that I'd like a word with the tattoo artist who tattooed you under-age, as in the UK, Australia, USA and Canada it's ILLEGAL to tattoo any persons under 18 and I believe in most states you need to be a minimum of 16 with parental consent (I may be wrong about that, but it's what other tattoo artists in America have told me). I cannot fathom why he / she would risk his / her reputation and license (If he / she even has one) tattooing a minor....This is not your fault, but I hope you researched your artist and made sure that the correct precautions and hygiene methods were taken and used!! Anyways, enough b*itching....I say, wear your tattoos proudly and bugger what others say. If she finds it offensive (Including your piercings) then she should look somewhere else...you're not forcing her are you!!! Have fun :) xxxxx

" I am sorry to hear that your were approached in this mannerism.. Her approach was inappropriate and she should have realized this before her words ever sprang forth out of her loose lips... " My concern is this....... About two weeks ago, I heard on the news that 44 people had gotten infections from getting tattoos. With genuine concern I really feel that they are not healthy for many reasons, nor are piercings..... We all do things when we are young that we some times end up regretting.. This may be one of those things you later on in life will have regrets over.. Does it change who you will become in life? No. You have to ask your self who you want to be? How do you want your children to see you? Are you setting a fine example? And what are the health risks involved if you decide to get more, or your children one day want to do this...... We do things at the spur of the moment and that is not wise....... I hope the very best for you in all you do and choose in life......... Educating your self on such issues from a moral stand point is key, then see where it takes you from there. Ignorance, is not knowing.........

Yes, If you are a Christian who believe in Holy Bible, You are doing a sin. Its clearly states in the Bible that we should not do that. But lets not talk about Religions, That's not the issue .
the Ink might be dangerous to your skin in future (Cells). and also the stretch marks will make the tattoo look weird in most cases.
By putting a tattoo in body, you are destroying your personality. None of the good will not carry any kinds of tattoo.
Well you already have one and do not be sad at this point
At least try not to show and keep it hidden , May God Bless You

She clearly has serious problems and you should not worry about it. Personally, I'm not a fan of tattoos but don't find them offensive, just dumb. I also don't find piercings offensive, but think they are barbaric from a hygiene and medical point of view, but, mainly from a cultural point of view. As a matter of fact, I did not allow anyone to pierce my daughter's ears when she was born.

All of these mutilations of the body can be traced to primitive cultures and usually represent the co-option of the young into the status quo of the society established by the elders. It usually involves mutilations of the sexual organs: Muslims remove young girls clitoris; Jews and N. Americans circumcise baby boy's penis. Some variations are found in rural China where women have their Achilles tendon cut to prevent them from running away. I believe piercings (including ear rings) and tattoos are the blander evolution of this barbarism, but still the symbol of ones surrender to collectiveness.

So, come to think of it, the woman was dead center right, but not for the reasons the thought she was.

I have 6 tatts...and I wish someone would have the NERVE to come up to me and say something baout my ink.....I have one on the back of my neck (the sign for VIRGO), my name on one thigh, my daughters name on my other, a rose on my lower back, Diva on my left breast with a butterfly, and a small blue star on my wrist, My mama couldnt even tell me anything about my tatts, hell my brother WHOLE back and Right arm is done, and his chest and his stomach and he is JUST now 19. Why can he do it and I am 22, and people want to talk? Screw that.....

I also have my belly button pierced.

All of which can be covered in business attire and a watch.

You are your own person....tell that lady to suck it.....your life, your body, your decision.

Offensive? No.
Disinterested? Depends on the ink. What you describe is absolutely 100% acceptable, and not an issue in my tiny little portion of existence. I do not think that a woman (yes, I am a bit sexist/old fashioned here) should be painted with them, and have them on every inch of her skin; however, the tats you have, especially the one with your kids names, are both okalie AND dokalie.

I don't necessarily find them offensive, unless they are vulgar in some way, but I do find them unattractive on women.

I really don't see the reason why a woman would want to do that to herself. Maybe really low self esteem? I just think its totally classless and tacky.

I do however, feel the woman in the grocery store was out of line coming up to you and telling you. She should keep her opinions to herself!

I have 37 piercings, including a corset lacing that consists of 24 piercings on my back. I don't think that tattoos are a problem, as soon as I turn 18, I am getting inked. Just tell that lady to go fu*k herself, and that you don't have to listen to that.

I have one of my daughters name on my left breast also. I wear it with pride. I am 44 years old and want another one. I would have told her to mind her own business. If it offended her she should have looked the other way. She should be a shamed of her self for making you feel bad, you did nothing wrong. Life is way to short to waste it thinking about some person with way to much time on her hands!!!
