The Steelers. How many other teams have been owned by the same family for 73 years. I mean come on you couldn't think they'd have been owned by the same person that long, although Dan Rooney was there from the start. Little kid when it started obviously but he was there. To the one who said the Dolphins all I can say is GET A GRIP. ONE YEAR doesn't make you the greatest FRANCHISE in history. It means you had the best year in NFL history pretty much. Some could even argue other teams have had better years. Besides this whole matter is opinion. I say 5 Superbowl wins, having the same family OWN the team, have the orginal owner being considered a Saint in the home city(come on the city broadcast the funeral in part because they just didn't have enough room to let everyone go) I think when you come down to it it's clear.

It would all depend on what you use as criteria. If you go with Super Bowl wins, then there would be 3 candidates, but then you would have to leave out the Packers.

The way I look at it, there are a lot of great franchises with storied pasts, but all have suffered periods of massive struggles. Right now the Niners and Packers are going through those, while the Cowboys and Steelers are on the upswing. You could also, look at some other things, like the Bears and how they contributed to the building of the NFL or the Patriots who have gone to Super Bowls in 3 decades and have redefined what a modern-day dynasty should be.

I know, it's the answer of a politician, but I do not think it can be summed up with one choice.

1. Dallas Cowboys
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
3. San Fran. 49ers
4. Redskins
5. Raiders/Packers

Cowboys are the best ever and always will be. The stupid Steelers are second cuz of the win/robbery last year. Of course the 9ers dominated the 80's and still had clout in the 90's. The Redskins were consistent in the 70's, 80's, and 90's, and still are trying to win. The Packers have to be in there due to there dominance during the start of the NFL and before. Any team that has the motto commitment to excellence has to be in the top 5.

I have to go with the Green Bay Packers. Owned by the residents of the city. Dedicated fans, players that are respected on and off the field.
