Divorce is always a grave sin. However, if you find yourself in a divorce against your will, you obviously are not guilty of the sin. The reason that the Catholic Church (almost exclusively) does not allow divorce is because of what Jesus said about "what God has brought togethor let no man put assunder". Matrimony is a covenant between a man, a woman and God. No man has the authority to undo what God has done.

Am assuming when you state the Vatican, you mean the Catholic Faith in Particular. A catholic is not allowed to divorce unless where by the partner decide to commit adultery. This is the only approved circumstance in the Catholic Church.

The Vatican, seat of the Catholic Church, doesn't recognize divorce. Any church members who divorce will be excommunicated and unable to marry again in the church. If, however, they get their marriage annuled, they can get remarried. But there are stringent rules about who qualifies for an annulment.

In general Vatican condemns divorce.
It is allowed however if your wife is childless.
Also, if you are unhappy with Vatican's laws you can just strt your own religion just like Henry VIII did when he wanted another wife.[1]

They give it an enormous, resounding NO. Also, you can't get remarried in a Catholic church after getting divorced. If you're asking for personal reasons, don't let that policy prevent you from getting divorced if you are in a bad or dangerous situation.

The Catholic Church stresses the sanctity of marriage, needless to say, divorce is being prohibited to its followers. Annulment of marriage though is allowed but i know its very difficult to be granted one.
