I want something to cool a small bedroom. Not looking for a ceiling fan or box fan or window unit. Is there something inexpensive that I can purchase that would do the trick? Is there a product that is similar to a ceramic space heater, except that it provides cool air? all suggestions welcome.

I got our small room air cooler at Lowes. If you don't have one near you, try Home Depot. You're right, it is ceramic, and it's awesome. We have a small office (10x6) & it works wonderful in there. Best thing is that it was very inexpensive. Happy shopping & keep cool! Nancy

You can do some very inexpensive things to get the room cool without gettting into an air conditioner.

Try putting aluminum foil in the window to reflect the heat out (shiny side toward the sun). It can be taped up with masking tape and re-used next year.

You can also freeze a gallon jug of water (use an empty milk jug) then place it in front of a box fan ... as the ice melts, the fan blow cool air toward you past the jug...

If you can afford an airconditioner, that's great but if you can't ... or don't want to have your window blocked, try this. :o)

They are portable air conditioners but they are not very cheap (Unless you consider a little over $300 reasonable) and they need some place to vent exhaust (A 5" diameter hose) that can be ran out a window or in a windowless room through a hole to the attic or even in to a room not frequently used (I've heard a lot of people suggest bathroom). Other than that I'm at a loss.

use a window unit, not a $100 air conditioner but a inexpensive twin window fan and turn it on at night to bring in cold air in
