I was looking at some watches on eBay and some of them said they had Japanese Movement, is this something odd?

♡It means that the internal operating mechanism of the time piece is Japanese, made in Japan, as opposed to American or Swiss. It depends on the watch, if it's a Seiko, it's not odd to have a Japanese movement. If it's a Rolex, it's definitely odd! This would mean it's a 'replica'. Buyer beware!♡

It means that the inside device , cogs and stuff , was made in Japan.......meaning Japanese Movement.
Many watches made in other countries use "Japanese parts" which will warrant the watch "Japanese Movement"
There are many high quality watches made in Japan but like others above me have said , you have to look closely at one when you buy it.
If you are concerned about buying a fake , it would pay to try to find a web site of the brand name it carries and from there you should be able to find out exactly where the "inside movement" was originally made.

It means it's not the "real deal". For example, if you're looking for a Rolex, it would say "Swiss movement" at the bottom. If it says Japan movement, it's a fake...

japan movement, the main internal mechanism was made in Japan, It may be assembled in other countries and some parts might not be made in Japan (case, bezel, strap etc). One of the quality of watch, second to Swiss made. Swiss movement is the same as Japan movement, Main parts were made in Switzerland but assembled in other countries. Swiss made is one of the highest quality. sanctioned by Swiss Govt in terms of quality and workmanship.
