Isn't it easier to go to USA for a short travel and change a visa status to Student visa (F-1)?

(Considering that getting travel visa is easier than getting F-1 visa)

No way! you should be happy if you ever get out of the country and will be allowed back in... Since the rules are very strict since 9/11, even a J-1 was hard to get for an European. It takes a lot of time and about 30 different forms to fill, besides all the proof you need to support your application. Good luck with that!
