he is always putting me down in little ways that most couldn't even pick up on, but I notice. It's like emotional abuse. Why are men so mean?

He probably doesn't like you anymore but since he is married and can't just tell you to leave.
If you changed in anyway from the time you dated then that is the reason.

Sincerely dear - people only treat us the way that we allow them to treat us and you are right it is emotional abuse but in my study of abusers I have found that the reason they do what they do is so that they can feel superior to another because really deep inside they weak, have low self esteem and are usually cowards. If you give them the power over you - they will continue to treat you like you are beneath them - it's never really about you -it's about their need to hide the fact that they really don't like themselves or and who they really are - My advice to you is stand up for yourself, even if that means leaving - don't allow your self esteem to be stripped by somebody who looks at themselves as being insignificant. You can't receive love from somebody who doesn't even love themself.

insecurity, a man that is insecure with himself will most likely in some cases put down, degrade, belittle their spouse or who ever is closest to him, to make him self feel better he puts u down, its not like emotional abuse hunny, IT IS EMOTIONAL ABUSE,thats worse than physical. i know from experience. try to get some marriage counsling if he is willing to go, but if he refuses then i`d seriously think bout divorce cuz things will not change unless you both work on the problem. good luck lady, take care of you......

Some people use insults and put downs to mask their own insecurities. They think it will make them bigger if they can make you feel small. If it is a serious problem for you, then I suggest find a professional for the two of you to talk with and try to fix the problem.

If most could'nt pick up on it then I guess you're extra sensitive or making something out of nothing.If he is so mean you should shut up & leave, or are you one of those people who is'nt happy unless they are complaining?Oh by the way stop generalizing men,women are ****** up to.

I dont think all men are mean! some are .Your guy gets away with it until you srt standing up for yourself! IVE decided its better to live without bullsh--than living with it ! Get a life!

first of all . all men are not like your man ok get some backbone and tell him that if he keeps this up that you will leave him and stand up to him on this ok no woman ought to go throught hell over a so called man like him in my opion ?

Because you enable him to do this. Don't tolerate his crap,let him know how you feel. if it continues get out of the relationship, it is not healthy for you mentally. Good Luck

because you let him, he does it and you stay why do you do that is the question you need to start asking yourself, this obviously isn't love and men aren't mean, just that one is. quit taking it and he'll have no choice but to stop doing it to you.
