the time to have the pit passes is friday during qualifying, because the drivers have to be out on pit road. if you have pit passes for race day, the drivers hide in their motorcoaches until race time so it's much harder to get autographs. i get pit passes for friday(pole day) to every richmond race, and i get TONS of autographs every single time. just this past may i got the following autographs: jack roush(twice) kenny, mike, AND stevie wallace, ray evernham, martin truex, bono manion, bob dillner, greg biffle, carl edwards, sterling marlin, denny hamlin, jimmie johnson, kyle busch. all in about 2 hours time, and i've gotten so many more in the last few years you wouldn't believe it

The best way?? Is to go to the several apperances they make througout the year.
Now as for your Pocono pit passes. You might luck out and get a one, but for the most part pit passes are before the race and the driver's are busy in the driver's meeting, media obligations and race preparation and aren't in the pits much before the race..so beyond a guaranteed apperance place and date the rest is shear luck.

Try writing to them. Send what you want autographed, pictures, etc. and be sure to include a stamped, self-addressed envelope for the return. A nice polite letter will usually get what you want. You have to be patient, and perhaps waiting until the off-season is better. I would write to them in care of the team they drive for. I believe these mailing addresses are available from the team websites. Good luck
