Most of the western states in the USA have mountains and lakes. Colorado has many as does Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington state, northern California and more. Each is unique and has its own beauty.

Just draw a line down from Canada to Mexico along the east border of Colorado and Wyoming and just about all that is west of there will have what you are looking for. Some will be east of your line but most are west.

Remember though, along with the mountains and lakes the cost of living is higher...you pay for the beauty.

Why don't you try Canada? They have beautiful mountains and lakes in British Columbia and Alberta. And the living and people are the greatest. I have been to them all on both sides of the border...I like our side the best...Canada's side.

Alabama:

Alabama has lower mountain ranges in the central and nothern parts of the state. The southern side is on the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf of Mexico is one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the world. There are also numerous lakes throughout the state.

It is a great place to live if you like college football, great food, fishing, NASCAR, low property taxes, and a low cost of living. We have a wide range of cultures and are driving distance to Atlanta, New Orleans, Nashville, and Florida.

I've not lived there but I visited Lake Tahoe in Nevada and it was absolutely beautiful, with snowcapped mountains reflected in the lake water. I was really impressed with the area and would love to live there someday.
