There's this young lady who just had a baby(3 months premature). She is currently recieving food stamps, has filed child support(the baby's father was abusive and doesn't want to have anything to do with either of them), she has no G.E.D., no job, and no home. She's currently staying in a hotel that's being paid by a hardship program or something. The child will be released by the hospital in a few weeks to the mother. Once that happens the mother and child will be on the streets. She's a good person, and would like to get a job and a place to stay. She has no support. Her father won't allow her to return to Louisana, and her family here in Texas has given her the cold shoulder. How can I help?

Oh my... Poor thing.

Well, help her get a job, if you have room, you can rent her a place to stay. And then once she's working and supporting herself, help her find good child care/baby-sitting so that she can continue to work without worrying about the child during the day.

Most of all, though, just love her. She's most likely hurting, anxious, and feeling really rejected and lonely. Treat her like one of your own, and she'll thank you for it.

Hope that helps. Will say a prayer or two for you two. :-)

Help her get on welfare. They will help by training her and getting her G.E.D. They might even help her with college. They will help her pay rent, and they will go after the father for child support. You should not take her into her house and take care of her and her baby. Especially if you don't know her well.

Actually she can receive Social Security for the baby because of low birth weight. That can probably pay her rent. She needs to ask the caseworker of the hospital the baby is at. They can do wonders for her.

Don't get yourself involved in her mess. there should be a very good reason for her ex, parents and the entire family to reject her.
don't feel sorry for her. if she could think a little better, she would have finished high school before popping a kid. This is LIFE. if you play it dumb you will pay later in life.

I guess you could let her move in. If she's so great that wouldn't be a problem.....would it? Would she fix meals, do housework?
