It most often appears in the lower legs for unknown reasons during or immediately following exercise. It is sometimes called exertional compartment syndrome (ECS) or chronic compartment syndrome (CCS). Some signs and symptoms include sharp, sometimes burning pain in your lower leg, a feeling of extreme tightness in the leg, the inability or decreased ability to pull your foot up, all during or following exercise. It is something that needs to be treated by a physician.
