Okay. That is a great question. I think that you know those key points for the final game, France vs. Italy.
Among those two games, Zidane played better against Brasil because the Brasilian players did let him play freely. Their midfield line didn't pressure the french players. For the second last game, Zidane couldn't play as good as the first last game because the Portuguese players did pressure the ball and double teamed Zidane well, though Portugal lost the game.
As you know, Italy is known for their defense. For this world cup, the defense has been a key point for players(ex. Switzerland).
So, i think itlay is gonna pressure Zidane for the entire game. But, France already knows how to play against Italy. Thus, France will have different strategies playing aginst Itlay.
I think there will be a huge midfield fight of both teams. Midfield line is the key thing for the final game.

man, it is a very tricky question ! I personal think that it is all up to how much the world bet on Italy and France in this final. Italy had more than fire power to defeat France. France has only Zidane as a play maker, just do the math ! If I am the Italy's coach, I make sure to have one of my player stick with Zidane to his last breath, and the rest of my arsenal will pounded the France 's defend. If the money were in favor for Italy, of course Zidane will once again dance between the Italy's defend like there were nobody there! and we could see an upset! I am not trying to be negative, but it is the real deal that we all should think about.

I tink Zidane will have a hard time moving freely with Gattuso around.Gattuso will be there watching his every move. I think ppl are getting a little carried away jus cuz France beat Brazil. If Brazil played like the Brazil we know France didn't stand a chance the French were jus lucky. Barthez didn't impress me an if he plays like how he played against Portugal Italy will definately win and with a goalkeeper like Buffon and Cannavaro, who is one of the best defenders in the world, would not make it easy for Zidane or Henry to score

Gattuso is gonna stick with him just watch he's is going to shut Zidane down because if you ever watched a game with AC Milan vs. Juventus when Juventus had Zidane he couldn't do anything against Gattuso and one thing that Gattuso has is the will he has more will than anyone in the WC because he would die for Italy to win the WC he has the most heart for the game and he isn't a diver or faker at all.

Zidane is a playmaker and on a given day he can terrorise any team. the Brazillians know it more than anybody else.

Gatusso is also a good player and lippi would definitely ask him to mark the French great.

This is a final and the best chance for the Italians to eradicate the bad side of theirs which came front in the scandal and lot will depend on how Gatusso mark the French great but as this is the match for his life Zidane would be extra motivated to play his best and I am sure he will give more than 1000%.

So i think that Zidane is going to play freely even today.

Gattuso is probably the only man that can stop Zidane's beautiful passes.. Gattuso will stick to Zidane and make sure the French players have no chance on the Italian goal...

Zidane is a really unique player that have a lot of abilities with the soccer ball. He never underestimates his oponents and he's style of playing soccer is always the same. Freely? He never played freely, he's a good team player and with other players like Henry he will find a way to do what he does best; control the game. Soccer is not about a one on one competition is about who plays more as a team, that's the reason why they need 11 players in the field. BTW, I'm not a fan of his I am a Brazilian and Italian fan. Trust me I've being neutral on this answer.

Zidane is an amazing play maker, and although Gattuso is very talented, with Zidane playing at 500% with his imminent retirement there is no chance for Gattuso. Zidane will not be messing around with frilly plays and he'll have a lot of help from Theirry Henry. Cannavaro will be a help, but even he can't stop France.

Actually, judging by the recent performance of Zinadine Zidane, first against Brazil and the tremedious work he did against Portugal, one should not only expect him to play well, but also to have a free pace in the mid field even in the presence of Gattuso. I think ZIdane is a very skilled player who has played against stronger oppositions than Gattuso, so i dont see the mid field being dominated by someone else rather than Zidane,

I think that after the last few games, everyone is finally starting to realize that Zidane is the hub of the team and Italy will definitely try and disrupt his playmaking. How do you throw Z off his game? Keep pressure on him and stick him like glue. Something that Italy should be able to do successfully in the first half. As the game rolls on however, look for Gattuso to trade places with Zambrotta to hold Z in his place.
