I think two weeks is a little time to spend in any European Country. Last winter I spend 3 weeks in Spain and I just see 1/5 of what I want to see. If you really want to learn about other cultures of different peoples I don't recommended a jumping type travel to Europe ( the ones that you spend a day in Paris or in a touristic bus around Rome). I don't agree with your father, travel to Europe will be definitely one of the best experience and you remember it for the rest of your life. Believe me you can't get bored in Europe there's to much to see and if you like nightlife remember that you can be walking all night, when you think the business are closing the are opening. I think a lot of Americans don't want to go to Europe because if the go they have to accept the reality that the way of life in Europe is by far much better than in the states.

I feel that a young graduate with the maturity would benefit from a trip to Europe. You could stay in Hostels to save money....join groups of young people....grab some cheese and bread after first meal and you will have a nice afternoon snack and the breads in Europe are soooooooooo good.......Where else can you see St. Peter's, The Arch in France...The Alps....Have a good trip! Backpack and enjoy.

For the love of god go to Europe......go anywhere but where you live! Get out and see the world! Experience new things, people, places.
Europe is a lot more peaceful that many places in the US.

Nightclubs, dude, its not all about "nightclubs" sometimes it should be about adventure and taking chances, i'm sure you can even find some club or something if it MEANS THAT much to you, i dint thnik you dhould, but i say GO TO EUROPE. YOU WILL NOT REGRET, I SWEAR

it's definitely worth it (I'm German) and I miss europe (live in the US)! all of my american friends who did go said they loved it.
it's just so different...don't get me wrong, I love the states and live here by choice, but I do miss the culture and the food...two things you'll probably enjoy if you go =) europe has just a very different feel to it and you can learn a lot.

Like Nike, just do it. If I would have stopped and thought before I went, I would have missed out on the most amazing time in my entire life. If you don't go, you'll always wonder, and if you do go, you'll remember it for the rest of your life. Remembering is always better.

Seeing the world is one of the best things you can do in life. Do it.
Your father is very small-minded.

You should totally do it! I'm studying in England this fall. We need desperately to learn about far away places with strange-sounding names.
