i ignore the squeaky wheels. after awhile the noise and bother just fades away. it's the silent hopeful ones who deserve the good things in life, wouldn't you agree?

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, until their can is empty.. and by then you can tell how much importance the squeaks are from them, if they give valuable or helpful squeaks, or if they are just stirring up trouble for attention.

The hopeful silent types do deserve a boost, but they also need to speak up more to counteract some of the squeaks. Squeakers usually won't squeak as much if they know they are surrounded by non-squeakers, they will occasionally absorb some of the 'take it all in stride' attitude.

But now I'm going to flip the coin on this question.

Corporations are reinforcing team silence when it's a negative impact to the company..for example 'safety teams' where a group of people are placed into a team, and if that team doesn't have an accident, or an injury occur, they are rewarded a meager safety bonus. However the person who has arm pains from the physical activities they do will not report or be a squeaky wheel in order to protect the bonus, and upset from team members. While possible permanent damage has been done to the physical person in exchange for cash and morale, but not for moral reasons.

I work with both types, and the silent hopeful ones, seem to be less interactive due to either no opinion, or less care for direction of their situations.. while the squeaky ones seem enthusiastic or suggestive more often.

This also bring to mind the statement "It's always the quiet ones"..when something tragic happens, without the squeaks to know their opinions out in the open, good or bad.. you can not forsee or control the situations, stresses, or explosions that are possible.

It's been my experience that even though the squeaky wheel gets greased it's the unsung silent types that just get the job done and not complain about everybody else. These are people who do not feel they need or deserve rewards, or recognition. They just instinctively know what to do and do it unselfishly. They will be rewarded in another time , maybe in another place , beyond human measure, and well beyond the human equation.

I agree that the squeaky wheel gets annoying but if you don't pester sometimes you just get pushed to the bottom of the pile. The strong silent type sometimes ends up being the one that gets stepped on because they didn't speak up.

I'd lean in the direction of rewarding folks who just sit quietly and do a good job. Personally, I hate squeaky wheels, but I also am not very fond of people who withdraw manipulatively into a hole and make you go in after them to find out what they want.

I was an administrator for 22 years. Yes the squeeky wheel always gets the oil first. First and foremost, its important that a scene not be created. And if you are squeeking, you will get oil, or in the job sense, you will either get promoted or fired, depending on what, who, where and when. So in my opinion and to my way of thinking, and being a squeeky wheel myself, yes the squeeky wheel gets the oil first.

I actual have herd that some women persons bypass for the "solid and silent form" and it really is in straightforward words the way women persons discuss it. For truly some women persons they desire a guy who's a superb listener and would not truly communicate his options. My dad is the example I see each and every of the time! i'd go away of the note timid i don't understand any woman who's. For me shyness is usually a great turn-on it also says that a woman merely would not pick to pitch in with each and every of the merciless gossip going round!

i agree with you. i think the strong silent type of people should get rewarded. however i think its opposite in the real world. i think its always the squeeky wheel that get everything. too bad. i like someone who can do a good job and not complain about it.

Observations of the Squeaky Wheel Types: They often create their own problems, they go looking for trouble and of course, find it; they are addicted to crises; they are often insecure; they are usually self centered; helping an insecure, self centered person (unless said person is a child) is like throwing your energy into a black hole; and in many cases, insecure self centered people tend to turn of those that help them.

ummm.... silly question..... the squeaky wheel gets your attention ......so you grease it

....then the "idea" of the annoying squeakiness gets stuck in your head and you preventatively grease the non-squeaky wheel.

Always deeming the non-squeaky wheel as you favorite....yet always greasing the squeaky one first.
