I suspect that in about 9 months there would be a second baby boom generation born.

These may happen:
1`everyone might not need to pay part of the electricity charges, which is from using the TV
2`certain TV stations might lose money since no one was watching their TV programmes
3`fewer fuels can be used (in addition to point 1) and everyone would have helped protect the environment for a month
4`the unused fuels can be used for about some more time than expected
5`the earth would be less polluted
6`some people would not get short-sighted for a month (but they may get short-sighted after resuming)
These incidents above may happen.

If everyone stopped watching TV for a month, the suicide rate would go up, more adultery, people who dont want more kids would, and in the end, they would start watching as soon as possible once its cleared to watch it. People are addicted. For some people its the only friend they have. Sick people, that no one ever visits, it for sure is their only friend. We would survive. TV would come back and all would be happy, especially the advertisers. They spend a fortune on TV advertising, the best advertising tool, no matter what your business is, store or online. Does it really matter? I would like to say people would start reading. But people who read, also watch TV, so it changes nothing.

Most people around here didn't have TV or the internet for two or three weeks after Hurricane Ivan. We spent our time "cooking" MREs and picking up debris.
10 years ago, I think people would have spent a little more time together, talking, socializing, taking part in activities. Now, I think they'd just get online, play a videogame, or listen to their iPods.
We never got our satellite reconnected after Ivan; we watch DVDs and use the internet for news and information.

If everyone stopped, first giant companies would lose millions toppling an entire economical structure. Next beginner entrepreneurs would attempt to take hold. Like who? The same people. TV is still a valuable asset.

ratings would crash and a new form of t.v. would have to be invented to suite our needs after the month was over. We'd have a lot less obesity problems and people would learn that staying active is healthy.

Everyone who did would realize how little they were missing. Not just shows but the news as well.

Everyone would learn to think and have an imagination again. More family time. Learn to think for ourselves. It would probably be pretty neat
