It is patently obvious that the American League wild card will come from the Central Division...either the White Sox or the Twins. So, the runner up in the A L East will stay home for the first time in many years. So, who will go to the post season, and who will stay home, and why?

I think it will be the Red Sox. The Yankees pitching staff is in shambles and theyre desimated by injuries. The Blue Jays dont have the experience to keep up with the Red Sox and Yankees but are definately going to be contenders for a while. The Red Sox have very clutch hitting and good pitching and an excellent rookie closer.

I think it's a bit early to say the central has the wild card spot, I just cant see Detroit staying in this race for 2 1/2 more months. There are so many tough games coming up for them against the white and red sox, the Yankees, blue jays, and twins. Their rookie pitcher doesn't know what its like pitching a full 162 game season.
So anyway, I think the White Sox win the central, Toronto wins the East and Boston wins the wild card.

Unfortunately, I am not as confident today to say that the Red Sox will be in it, considering they lost to Tampa Bay 3 games in a row! I am afraid that without a reliable 5th starter things will be getting tougher and tougher for the sox. However, I am hoping after the All Star break Theo can do his magic and figure out how to fill in the pitching holes. Also, some of the players on the DL should be coming back soon and will have a fuller roster. So even with my reservations I will say the Red Sox.

Yankees. The Yankees last year at this same time were behind in every category then they are at this time with their key players. When they get back to their full lineup they will slowly but surely take the division. And of course Brian Cashman will improve the team by the end of July. The man has been a genius for the Yankees over the past years.

Blue Jays is a very good team, they have young and reliable defence, aggressive base running, speed, home run power, base hitting abilities, perfect closer, two excellent relieve pitchers but except Roy Holladay, the other starter are injured themselves one after one,if their health back to normal in a very short period,I don't think they have a chance, what's a big waste.
The proud Yankees still a group of respecting players, though can't compare with last ten years but they are rich, they don't mind to spend, they have that smartest boss and first class players, they won't give up an inch until the last minute, their pitching still over reliable level, offence still one of the best as well as defence,if you count them them, you'll be sorry for that.
Although I don't like the Red Sox,I have to admit that they will win the A.L.E.title this year ,look at their excellent offence, nearly prefect defence, young and old mixed up starting and relieving pitchers, one of the best manager and his staffs.
Even I don't want to see but have to face the fact that Red Sox will win the title by one game ahead of Blue Jays and Yankees.

no but i believe the red sox will because their pitching is just too good .. but i would like it if the Jays did just so for once the yanks nor sox would win the division

Twins? wild card?

Pleeeeease........

The wild card will come from the Central, and I believe it will be Detroit.

Chicago wins the AL Central

Red sox win the East.

I do have some good news though..............

THE YANKEES STAY HOME AND WATCH THE PLAYOFFS ON TV!

Red Sox will win because their pitching has been the most consistant and the Yankees won't make the playoffs unless they trade for pitching

The Red Sox will....................because they were the #1 team in baseball with a great winning streak-then they lost 1 game but are still very highly ranked-therefore I think they will go ALL the way AGAIN this year!!!! Go Red Sox!!
