112 in Indio, California. Standing by a freeway on ramp for 5 hours, hitchhiking with no shade. There were no cars getting on the freeway. Finally a moving van stopped and we got in the back. Even hotter in there and pitch black!!! I really thought we were going to die in there. After about an hour they stopped and we got out, glad to be alive!
