Yes, I do think so. I don't know what is wrong with parents these days, whether they are just too afraid of what the neighbors think if they discipline their children, or if their children will feel 'abused' or what it is, but it's a serious problem facing this generation.
It seems to be the same whether the parents are well educated or uneducated, I have seen examples on both ends of the spectrum. It's clear that there is a serious lack of boundaries in America's households today and children are completely out of control.
Have you ever noticed that it is the parents, not the children, who need to be corrected in all of these "nanny" shows on television? :/

Yes kids need rules and structure. I see too many parents that want to be their kids friend and not there parent. Not that you can't be both but a good parent knows that your child will not like them all the time, but that's OK they will love you later for it.

I don't think they are afraid as much as they are lazy! They don't want to have to deal with parenting the child properly, they just ignore and put up with inappropriate behavior and expect the rest of us to do the same.

Rules and limits are no good without consequences, and not just "time-out", and the parents must cooperate and not contradict each others authority when punishment is given.

i agree that children need guidleines. they need someone to tell them not to do certain things. My parents were strick and I love them more for that now than I did back then. Parents know more and have learned so they can teach children what is right and wrong. They get mad at first but realize it was for the best.

yes parenting seems to be in a terrible state, i think people more likely just dont know what to do so they do nothing. you aren't allowed to spank them, thats child abuse and other things seem so complicated and with a little staying power the kid wins the battle so i think parents are baffled and bullied by their own kids and just dont know how to stop it. its ridiculous to me but it seems to be what is happening. that and the severe lack of simple common sense seems to be another growing disease.
