In today's world the youth have more opportunities, capabilities, good education, physical and cultural standards, backed by computers-technology,coupled with an avalanche of diversified knowledge ,independence, fearlessness, decline in conservatism, yet they lack compassion towards fellow human-beings, are arrogant and selfish. They seem to have skin-deep feeling for their fellow-beings unlike those of yesteryears.Todays youth are egoistic, have only lip sympathy as against genuine sympathy of the youth of yesteryears.Money, power, status, superiority have assumed high proportions in today's youth. They commit a lot of evil acts to acquire any of the above. They are more intelligent and smarter than those of yesteryears

There are always exceptions to the rule as whatever is mentioned applies to most of the youth of today in general and not to all concerned. With this plethora of intelligence, smartness, physical strength etc why cant they be
more tolerant, more giving,compassionate.

I'm sorry but I disagree with your statements. The percentage of youths that fit your above description is not as many as you claim it is. Of course there are selfish teenagers just as there are selfish middle-aged and elderly people. Your above statements seem to be all stereotypes and generalizations that are not true. They apply to a very little percentage of today's youth. Each youth is a different individual that might lack a certain characteristic that can be compensated for by some other positive characteristic. Everyone has different values that dictate who we are and our way of life.

PS: Your statement about the pursuit of wealth and status applies to people of all ages and not just youths.

I blame a LOT of it on their parents and how they raise their children and what they teach them... but mostly I blame the media. They make it seem like if you arent skinny, rich, tan and blonde then you are nothing. So the youth today strive for those things because they think those are the most iportant things to have/be. Instead, they should really be worrying about their surrounding, politics, family and friends, health, helping others, and especially education.
