Freshman 15 is that you gain 15 pounds the first year of your college. This is supposedly because this is the first time you are completely responsible for yourself. You can eat/drink (even illegal substances, but no one knows really, right ahem ahem), sleep, study, and have fun whenever you want. No restrictions. Stress, excitement, etc. also causes this. Also, dining hall food sucks/too good. Either way, you end up eating a lot of junk food and not paying attention to what you are eating cuz mommy/daddy didn't cook a nutritious meal for you.

Some or all of these factors contribute to the weight gain known as the freshman 15. I gained mine, other's gained less, some quite a lot more, only a handful held it off.

When a freshman in college lives on campus, and suddenly has all the freedom to eat what they want, exercise less, and spend more time indoors, they tend to gain weight. 15 pounds is supposed to be the average weight a college freshman gains. For my one friend, it was like, the Freshman 50. Haha.

It the extra pounds new students get when they enter college. A lot of colleges have mandatory meal plans which are all-you-can-eat. Also meal times are when people socialize, so they hang around the food for a long time.
