I have a 3-D hair sculpture that is from 5 generations back, and it looks as good as new. It is behind glass, and the hair is twisted into flowers and leaves. So, I suppose a long time depending upon conditions. I believe it actually lasts longer than bone. (and it continues to grow for awhile after a person dies, just like nails do).

Depends on what it's exposed to. As a general answer: Longer than skin and flesh, shorter than bones and teeth.

It does NOT continue to grow after death.
