They didn't try to shoot at us, they shot it towards Japan and it blew up at 40 seconds into the launch and landed in the Japan sea.

N.Korea is like a big bully, no more. They are one of the last from the old days, the cold war days. They know their days are limited in power. They know they can't go up against us or the world.

But they also know that the world, the U.N., will give them money, energy help, food, etc if they acts like they have missiles and stuff. Cause they will offer them these other things in return for the missiles.

They are too scared and too proud to just instead say....hey world....we need help with food and stuff here, can you give us a hand? This would show weakness to other countries and someone might invade them.

Don't worry about us and N.Korea right now instead worry about N.Korea and Japan. Japan invaded them during the Korean war so they are long time enemies. And today's missile test really pissed Japan off. To the point Japan has now stopped all trade with Korea as of today and they are looking into possible military retaliation.

The USA and the rest of the world is against N.Korea but we are all still busy talking at the table...Japan is the only one ready to go kick some butt.

Your the one making an fool out of yourself. Look back at the 60's what did the USA do. They invaded North Korea lost miserably and they had no right to be there. Do you really believe that they have forgotten as easily as the USA forgets. Would you forget if your family was attacked unexpectedly by invaders. I really believe the answer would be no. So the Koreans also haven't forgotten either. Before you start calling people stupid punks you should do a bit of research and think about the question first. All it made you is a stupid punk a really stupid one.

The North Koreans are not stupid. They are terrified -- of us, the United States. And they are not shooting missles at us. They shot them into the ocean to test them. They just want to show the world that they will defend themselves if attacked. They have the right to create some national security for themselves. Lighten up on other peoples of the world. We're all human.

They aren't "trying to shoot a missile at the US". They are shooting two missiles to the Japan Sea, to test them.

Why are they doing this? Well, thanks to right-wing Bush and his "pre-emptive strike doctrine" (aka "excuse to invade Iraq and expand Halliburton's profit margin"), he has managed to make a paranoid and dictatorial state into something even more paranoid.
Basically, they are testing their missiles to show them around and tell the world that, should they be attacked, they are ready to use them.

The double standards are amazing... The US are urging talks with N. Korea (a brutal totalitarian dictatorship) to solve this issue whilst against Iran (a limited democracy), who incidently have never tested missle or even have nuclear weapons at present, a firmer approach is being taken.
Why are some countries being more punished than others? The answer is that Iran has oil and is rich in resources, while N.Korea is a poor and bankrupt state with little interest to the corporate agenda.

I do believe they may be trying to temp Bush into doing something stupid, and knowing Bush, its likely that he would. Hopefully he won't though, because that would be well.. stupid.

Keep in mind I havn't heart much about this. I heard a little a work today but nothing from the news or papers. From what I hear though, the missles were either duds or testers. As to why they were pointed AT the United States(and several other places) you can only wonder, but I still think it was to temp Bush x3

they are not trying to shoot a missile at the US, North Korea is just testing the missiles that will in all likelihood not reach the US, and are aimed at the Sea of Japan not causing any casualties and you should stop generalizing, especially when you do not have the entire story. you are welcome to say "stupid" Kim Jong-il, but don't blame North Koreans as a whole. To learn more about this issue and not jump to conclusions please read this article on Wikipedia

It's sickening that President Clinton had the opportunity to cut the wings of the North Koreans when he was in power and avoid that they become a pain in the you know where in the future, but nooooo.....he was very busy getting blow jobs from Monica Lewinsky :P!!

they've had missles for a long time and i think maybe they're tired of america getting all the talk in the news and they want to be noticed or maybe it's some evil plan of satan's
just pray about it
we don't want or need another 9/11 in this country the stess would be too high and all thos families would probably die of broken hearts

they are doing a couple of things. they are trying to establish a threat in this region so that the the us will go to the bargaining table with them in 2 party talks(i'm living in Japan and they are calling it brinkmanship politics here). also they are displaying for the world that they have missiles and they will sell them to whomever wants them. because of sanctions imposed largely by the US they are having huge financial problems. they don't have enough food or means to make more.
