Why do teenagers get in so much trouble in their middle schools and high schools? What should a parent do? Why do you think it causes for them to get in trouble?

mostly because they are not behaving as mindless drones and doing exactly as they are told and other wise being quiet. if they are are expressing themselves in any way any more it can be construed as negative. then there is also the added negative that there are a lot of parents that send their kids to school and expect the system to raise their child and do nothing to foster appropriate behavior. and then you could combine the 2 and it becomes really bad. in any case, spend time with your kids, get to know the teachers they are with, the kids they are with and if you are not impressed and your children are still getting in trouble home-school. who knows your child and the best way he/she learns? I would hope that it is the parent.

They get into trouble either because they are stupid jack a$$es or they are smarter than their teachers and know if any school official puts a hand on them, the school will likely get sued. And, in case you haven't met any faculty or staff at a school lately, the intelligence of the people educating our children is not exactly at it's highest. I would venture to say my 15 year old is smarter than most 25 year olds, the average age of some of her teachers. She is far more sophisticated and articulate as well.

Attention seekers. Cut the crap about bad homes, broken families etc. I think people give to much face to wayward teenagers and perhaps it seems 'cool' to be the troublemaker.. In the teenage mind, at least.

Its been portrayed that the most havoc years in one's life are their teen years. So they just play the part. For eg, (lets take a situation in school) .. If you have a teacher who you don't like, talking back to her/him in the most rudest manner ..

a) gets ur classmates to go ... wahh he dares to talk back to her.

b) gets ur classmates to feel ... hey the guy is quite cool.. he is very daring and not a softie.

= ego boost.

For them, its all about ego, image, identity, and being cool.

They are trying to get negative attention. If a teen gets into trouble at school, he should get into even bigger trouble at home. Consider sending him to boot camp or military school.

Parents aren't involved as much as they should be in their childrens lives anymore. So, children seek counsel and approval of scatter-brained peers as a result.
