Historically: They were a group of young men 25 years old and younger, who were constantly on the ready for the call from the Militia in the revolutionary era and are more than likely the reason we won that war. They were disbanded or faded out in the late 1700. Until April of 2005 when a group of concerned American citizens decided it was time for the American people to be active in guarding our borders between the US and Mexico. Their full name is "The Minutemen Project Civil Defense Corps." In addition to guarding the US & Mexico borders they participate in politcal rallies and other forms of activism. Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger praises them and Pres Bush refered to them as vigiliantes. It is my understanding they start in California.

They are a group of citizens who patrol the borders of the United States. They are all colors of concerned citizens. They must pass background checks before being allowed to be a minuteman. They are NOT allowed to detain or "rough up" the illegals, only to call the border patrol and inform them of the illegal's presence. Some people will call them vigilantes, but this is only because they do not support any measure that hinders illegals from coming over here.
