I find it amusing that you just defined your "own sense of style" by a specific genre of style-metalhead. Hopefully you don't dress as poorly as you spell, or I bet your parents would have a fit. Convince your parents by being yourself and not dressing like trash. They'll respect your fashion opinions more in the long run.

Parents are usually trying to do something in your best interest - at least we hope so. I suspect they find your look too... something. Too provocative, too sloppy, too unsophisticated, or the like. You probably want to dress like your friends do, right? I think you should try and talk to them from the why - the conversation about the what isn't really going to be resolved without understanding on both sides.

As long as its something u wouldnt mind ur own daughter wearing that shows her as a respectful young lady, then go for it. My mom used to buy me ugly stuff but I had to argue until I got what I wanted. I started little by little and worked my way into the situation.

It depends on whether you look decent and presentable or not. They don't want the good name of the family brought down by the way you dress. Some girls dress like trash and they call that a sense of style.

As long as you're not looking prostitute-like, just tell them that you're not letting anything hang out that shouldn't, and there are much worse ways you could express yourself more permantely, like tatoos and facial piercings.

LOL. My parents tried to stop me when I went through a similar phase. there was a lot of fighting, but they really couldn't stop me. Do you need their approval? Maybe if you are under 16, but it is your body and they need to respect that

Just talk to them... say you are your own person and that you dont just like to follow the crowd... also say that you dont want to be anyone else and that you just want to give out the personality that you have...

Don't throw away a relationship with them to get what you want. If you show them you care about them they will cut you more slack.

I don't know how old you are and what your sense of style is, but if it is not age appropriate, then you shouldn't be wearing it.
