Try looking at the things that she enjoys doing. Take a bike ride together, suggest a swim day for you girls at the local pool. Etc. etc. As far as taking pride in herself. It is a possiblity that she does take pride in herself already. I know that when I was a teenager, I didn't excercise, I didn't do the things that other people thought I should, but I took great pride in those things that I was good at. Look at her day to day life, what does she do? Is she in the choir at school? Play a sport, spend alot of time with her friends? It is possible that she takes great pride in the things that she does. Just because she doesn't do the things that you think she should doesn't mean that she doesn't care.
Remember that one, espically in the next 10 years. She's becoming her own person.

As the years went by I'd found that nothing works better than leading by example. After that you can only hope for the best. Just remember that a person doesn't have to be slim to be healthy.

Take her shopping!!!
Ask her to walk with you and keep asking everyday.
Take her to the make - up counter at a good department store and get a free make-over for her and buy her some expensive make-up or just invite Mary Kay over if she doesn't want to be made over in public.
Take her to the beauty salon once a week and get her hair done....a blow out is enough...and a manicure/pedicure...spend the money and she will love it!

Try a reward system. She works out, she gets a manicure or whatever. As far as food, you can make sure there is only healthy food in the house. Too bad you cant manage her eating outside of the home.

If you're providing the example, and she still isn't getting it, then it may be an issue of her choosing not to follow in that path. Unfortunately, it's a case of the old saying about leading a horse to water, but not making it drink.

Try doing it with her. Ask her to exercise with you so you won't be by yourself. Maybe you could even set up something where you sould take her to the Gym. Even invite her friends to come with you two. I'm 16 and having people around me, exercising with me and motivating me to be healthy, helped alot. I honestly don't think I would be this healthy if no one had pushed me.

It may be the classic example of "My Mom does it. I want to rebel against paternal rule---so I won't !!!" Passive Agressive behavior.
Try backing off a bit, wait for her to show some interest and then encourage it.

tell her that she is not attracted if shes fat and over weight(no offense).guys wont want to be her boy friend if shes like that.if that doesn't work then scare her in to exercising.and if that doesn't work and you really want her to lose weight and eat better then start taking stuff away from her and don't let her eat as much or make her eat healthy er food.if shes over 18 and moved out then i don't know what to tell you.
