my dad is a ceo and he is always talking about how blessed he is and how he doesn't think he deserves what he has. but he also would pick his family over his career any day. hands down.

I think its because their attitude got them there in the first place, lets face it, most of these guys aren't in touch w/ their emotions when it comes to getting something done, even if it means stepping all over people. Other bosses like that because they're the same way and they end up getting promoted and such. I mean, wouldn't you rather help your friend out than to help out a person that has totally different views on things? The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I think it is an unfair categorization to say 'most'...however, it does seem that as people advance to the top-of-the-heap, they lose touch with the workers at the 'bottom'. Some of this is due to the ivory-tower syndrome...that effectively isolates the 'boss' from the 'workers'.
