well some times the answers you give maybe to close to home. In other words, if someone asked you why is so hard to swim. you may say if you weren't afraid of the water it wound be easy. This wound only offend the person you were talking to.

people care about what others think because its human nature and to critisize them for it is also human nature its part of what separates us from all other life forms

opinions draw criticism...people believe certain things without knowing all the facts and even then your personal beliefs might be stronger then an opinion you hear therefore you most argue your case proving your opinion is the correct one

They are probably looking for justification for their own opinions--they are seeking agreement, and they'll try to convince others their opinions are "wrong" to get it!
