The chances of miscarriage for an amniocentisis is less than 2%. (Do the research.) I do not think it is murder to take that chance, though I have decided not to. She probably lost the baby because there were chromosomal abnormalities. They might appear like a spinal cord problem on an ultrasound because the thicker the neck fold the greater the chance of chromosomal abnormalities.
Miscarriage is almost always caused when a baby could not survive to birth or after it.
I have to say, I am offended that you posted this question in the pregnancy forum. Obviously the people on this forum have babies they want to keep. Many of us fear every day that we might lose our children. Do you have any consideration for others, or are you so concerned with ranting about a topic that cannot ever be resolved on Yahoo answers and one that you will never convince another person to change their mind about that you don't care about anyone else? Are you that much superior to us?
I'm very sorry for your niece. Is she celebrating? Is she sad? Why should she be sad? It wasn't a life to begin with, just tissue, or so you would have her believe. So I suppose you have no sympathy for her loss. Good for you. You are obviously a thoughtful person with a wish to make the world a better place.

3. professional-abortion and anti-capital punishment. woman. Any county that helps the dying penalty has no employer even questioning approximately banning abortion. i won't countenance giving extra rights to a zygote than a convicted criminal Abortion is and can stay a private, scientific determination between a woman and a doctor. Anti-abortionists, ask your self this question: do you want the government interfering in different scientific judgements, like interior the Terry Schivo case? there are various different the thank you to get rid of abortions, like giving unfastened beginning administration to all people on call for. yet that isn't take place by way of fact abortion isn't concerning the excellent to life, yet approximately repressing our sexuality. I am as right wing as they come, and although my opinion doesnt count as God's views, I have to think that having suffered a miscarriage as the result of a medical diagnostic procedure is NOT the same as purposefully killing a fetus and removing it from the womb. Life is ALL risks in a fallen world. God holds that baby in Heaven now, and if she is ready emotionally and physically, try for another baby. I am sorry for her having to go through this.

That's a tough decision to have to face. It seems to me that she wanted this baby, so murder is an awfully strong word. I believe abortion is murder, but I don't think having and amniocentesis that led to a miscarriage should be considered murder.
There are lots of people that don't believe in genetic testing through this invasive procedure, but they are usually the people who've never had to worry about the health of their unborn child.

I'm not a fanatic but i do know that there is a 1 in 3 chance in every pregnancy of miscarriage- even when the fetus is healthy.

I think this was a sad unfortunate event. its to bad medical science couldn't handle it better I'm sure your niece made the best choice she could, sometimes even the most informed choices turn out to be wrong but this is hindsight there is no blame for what happened. What would they have done if the tests were positive and there had been no miscarriage?

We are all sorry for the loss..they did what they thought was necessary. No not murder.. but your question seemed to have a double sided sword.. we are not fanatics.. well maybe we are when it comes to protecting these babies.. God knows they cant help themselves. If a mad man went into the nursery of a hospital and was crushing the skulls of newborn babies.. wouldnt you and everyone else try to stop them.. Think about it.

Murder, absolutely not. 20% risk of miscarriage also means 80% chance everything will go okay. I probably would have made the same choice. Miscarriages happen, and they're really tragic, but no way is the situation you described the same as abortion.

no i donot think it was murder---it was just one of those terrible losses that unfortunately happened----however had the test come back there was something wrong& you abort a baby because it is "DEFORMED OR RETARTED" ----i would consider that MURDER! (yes,i read one of your answers& ur entitled to ur opinion & being the proud mom of a 3 yr old w/ D.S. I felt the need to express mine! he is THE most AMAZING person ive ever met & the world is a better place having him in it -also retarded means having a less than average I.Q. & no test will tell u that)

I actually thought the chance of miscarriage was much lower. I'm so sorry your neice lost her baby. What she did was not murder.
I do not appreciate being called a "fanatic" because I am morally opposed to abortion.
