People have told me each drop represents someone the person killed. I find that hard to believe since I get so many customers with those tattoos at my job.

Originally each tear drop represented a murder committed. Generally now they represent each of the family or gang members who have died while a prisoner is locked up.

Teardrop Tattoo

2016-09-28 05:02:24 · answer #5 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

There are many meanings of it. A filled in tear drop means you have killed someone, a tear drop that hasn't been filled in means you have lost someone you have loved, or it means you have been someones ***** in prison. Hope that helps, there is a bit more into it if you are talking about certain gangs but that covers the basics.

actually it used to mean that the person was somebody's ***** in prison. Today I am not certain if it still means that and people are using the murder thing because they are embarrassed of the truth when asked why they have the tattoo. From what I read though the teardrop has many different meanings for the scumbags who have them.

It means "I'm stupid and I put a stupid tattoo on my face because I saw other stupid people do it too, and I'm an idiot and thought it would be cool. And I'm probably some sort of criminal too, because again, I'm stupid and I want to let everyone know I'm a criminal because I'm a stupid idiot. And if I'm not really a criminal, I just want to pretend I'm one with this stupid tattoo on my face so people might think I'm scary, when in reality I'm just a moron. Oh, did I'm mention I'm a stupid idiot? ".

That's pretty much the gist of what it means.

according to wikipedia.com:
The tear tattoo is symbolic tattoo that is placed underneath one's eye to create the impression that the individual is crying. This tattoo has multiple, regionally-variant meanings. Often it signifies that an individual has killed another person, particularly while in prison; at other times, it means that a family member, friend, or fellow gang member has died or been killed. The tear tattoo is often associated with thugs, convicts, and gang members.

Well, I don't know, but I was always led to believe that how many teardrops you have=how many people you've killed, and it's only done to people who are in gangs. That's second-hand information however, so I don't know whether it's true or not. Maybe the people who come in to your shop most often are people who want to give off the impression that they're 'tough' because they had heard that also, and some may do it in remembrance of lost loved ones; i.e. a symbol for them to remember the tears shed. I hope that helps.

A teardrop under the eye is related to gangs and gang tattoo's. It usually signifies a violent act against another and most times a murder. Sorry, that is what I have known to be true.

Also from a yahoo search - the verbiage below
Does anyone know what a teardrop tatooed below the right eye stands for.Does the right or left eye make a difference?I was told it means regret by my son. Then I was told it means you lost someone close to you or you murdered someone.
