PMS stands for premenstrual syndrome. So it is the period before the menstrual cycle begins all over again. That's what the pre is for.
And during this tiring period...girls hormones change alot. And they get cramps because an egg is literally obliterated in their womb as they have to continue walking around as if nothing is happening..!!
So mostly it's cause of cramps, getting tired, and uncomfortable. some girls get headaches, and other horrible symptoms.

Why don't you ask her this exact question? No balls? And, before you do, you better check out what part of her cycle she is in!
Also, the counter-question I have studied for almost 52 years is: Why do males get so pissed off over almost nothing? I mean ROAD RAGE homicidal! Are all males equally stupid until they reach the age of 50 or so? Hey, I am a male about to turn 60, and I have three younger sisters, and I don't behave like that, but, I might want to try. Naw... might lose some of my charm...

as others have said it means pre menstrual syndrome, a syndrome is a collection of symptoms at a certain time. they do a singular thing to the woman. they make her irritable, mean and crabby. no, we dont like it, we dont understand for a whole until we see that its almost close the period time, or the day of, its due to the sudden dip in the hormone called estrogen. at the end of the menses, when estrogen starts to climb again, a female is happier, more energetic, more graceful, less irritable, has better memory and more Patience. we like ourselves better;. men suffer and we know it. we dont like this any better than you do, we joke about it because frankly, we get embarrassed, cry abit, and dont have a lot of answers that our loved ones will take to heart. my father was the best; he knew something was wrong with my mom at 'her time' even before

PMS stands for premenstrual syndrome.
It is a woman's way of dealing with pain and utter discomfort.
Luckily not all women handle PMS that way.
Some women like me just keep it to themselves and if the pain is too much take some Tylenol.

P.M.S [Pre Menstral Syndrom] It actually happens because of hormone imbalance, due to ovulation. Plus think if you men had to bleed for five days, you'd be a bit pissy too. Women tend to react to them in certain ways. Some puke, some have viscious cramps, severe migrains, blurred vision. When you have lived in a house of girls you understand why you don't.

premenstrual stress.
Its when there is a varied group of physical and psychological symptoms, that includes abdominal bloating, breast tenderness, headaches and migranes, fatigue, anxiety, irritability and depression. They mostly occur 2 to around 7 days before the menstruation and deplete shortly after it begins.

Premenstral Syndrome...we get pissed off because we have cramps and there's blood pouring out of us that's nasty...if you had a uterus and it was being wrung out like a rag you'd be pissed too.
